Alteriffic – Back to Healing

I’m flying :-)

Managed to crack through to 77 over the weekend, and grab Cold Weather Flying, this makes questing almost too easy tbh.  Having flown over a few zones, I’m also a bit worried what I’ll miss out on now I’ll be in the air and not on foot\hoof.  Zul Drak looks very interesting, but being able to simply fly to the quest location and back again means I’ll probably not see everything it has to offer, same goes for all the other zones I’ve left to experience.

I have now seen what all the fuss is over the Wrathgate quests, the Battle for Undercity is very epic, and I’m looking forward to going through that again on my alts.  I’m also just about ready to hit Grizzly Hills, where hopefully I can squeeze out 2.5 levels which will see me to 80 on Chunder.  I can then worry about which Alt will get levelled next .  Still leaning towards the Hunter for that one to be honest, although I reckon the DK will get rushed to 65 first so that he can be a Profession Mule for me (and I’ll probably then leave him in Shat near the Bank\Mailbox).  He’s gonna be my Inscription & JC dude who will hopefully make me lots of money (after I spent probably all my current cash powerlevelling him )

Anyway – I’m still enjoying my time back in WoW – not sure if that’ll change once the quest to 80 has been reached, time will tell I guess . . . .

76 and in a Guild

I hit 76 last night (still in DragonBlight), I also maxed out Herbalism (still 24 points to go in Mining though)

DragonBlight

On the whole I’m liking Dragon Blight a lot more than Boring Tundra & Howling Fjord.  Not sure why as the quests aren’t much different (not too far into the WrathGate chain).  Perhaps it’s due to the scenery being more atheistically pleasing to me, who knows . . . . .

My good friend Kit invited me into Meooww as well, and while I’m still a while from 80, I’m really looking forward to some instancing.  At the rate I’m going I reckon I’ll hit 80 in Grizzly Hills (if I can squeeze a couple of instances and knock out the few group quests I can’t solo).  Plus I get to hop on my Flying Mount (epic) next level which should hopefully speed things up a bit as well.

From the sounds of it they’ll need either a Healer or Caster, so my Enhancement days are somewhat numbered.  That’s not a problem though, as my intention for Chunder was always to be my ‘groupie’ toon.  As he’s already got epic flying, I think once he hits 80 his main goal is going to be to farm enough Emblems\Seals to get Heirloom Shoulders\Chest for whichever Alt I decide to get to 80 next.  I’ll probably get the Leather Set as this can be used for my Rogue or Druid, plus also my Goblin Hunter once Cataclysm hits.

As for who will get levelled up next I’m not really sure at the moment.  I’ve a few to choose from

  • 70 Rogue (UD Male)
  • 70 Warlock (Orc Female)
  • 62 DK (UD Male)
  • 60 Warrior (Tauren Male)
  • 60 Priest (UD Male)
  • 42 Hunter (Belf Female)
  • 26 Paladin (Belf Female)
  • 21 Druid (Tauren Male)

I’ll need to drop one (or more) of these come the expansion so that I can pick up a Goblin, to play through Azeroth after the changes.  Although I’ve no idea what race to make the Goblin.  I would like a Goblin Huntard, but as my Hunter is already 42 I’m reluctant to delete it just to level another one.

That said, I am thinking that the Hunter is going to be the one I level next, due to the fact that when I’m not raiding, I’m going to be soloing and I have always liked the challenge of soloing instances.  While huntards are everywhere (just like DK’s) mine will be staying in Dungeons most of the time (with luck).  As she’ll be running a lot of dungeons solo, I might go (dis)enchanting and get it to a level where she can DE all the BoP’s that drop.  Although with my lock being an enchanter (who already has a lot of the more profitable low level enchants) this could be a waste of time, and I may choose a profession I haven’t got on any toons (JC or Alchemist maybe).  None of this needs to really be done (or worried about) anytime soon, as this will be my focus once Chunder hits 80 and has got the Heirloom gear to speed up XP gain.  Hopefully running Heroics with the guild to gear up will get me a few Emblems, and having a Resto dual spec will also increase the chances of getting into heroics and speed up the emblem gathering.

Anyway – I’m hoping to get my Cold Weather Flying tonight so am busy planning a nice uninterrupted evenings levelling session (as the wife’s off out).  Fingers crossed the kids don’t wake up

Almost 75, Almost done with Boring Tundra

Got to a bar from 75 last night, and 2 quests from being done with Boring Tundra.

I picked up a few Blues (1 sneaky solo death run into Nexus, and a couple of Q chain rewards which I managed to Solo) on the way, and had a run in with a DK or two.

The two DK knobbers were from a guild wiht just the two of them in.  The 70 ganked me twice while fighting murlocs, but then a 70 Shammy came and helped me pwn him twice.  He then called for backup and I had them double team me while I was handing in a Quest.  Luckily I had just got round to setting up my totem groups, and managed to get them dropped nice & quick.  A few lucky crits later and they were both down!!!.

They did come back and camp me for 10 mins, but I took that time to make some dinner, and they’d pissed off by the time I returned.

All in all a decent couple of hours in WoW, and looking forward to hitting 75 tonight with a bit of luck

Two hours of Elemental & I’m ready to go back to Enhancement

Well after trying the Elemental Spec I detailed in yesterdays post for a couple of hours last night, I have to say I’m not feeling it.  I don’t have any problems with the amount of damage I’m putting out (sitting at around 900 Spellpower, with no enchants) or the mana usage (between Clearcasting, Watershield and Thunderstorm I don’t think I needed to stop to drink once).  I just don’t think that I like the LB spamminess of it.  Now this may all change once I get Lava Burst, and I’ll stick with it until I’ve at least had a play with Lava Burst to see if that adds a bit more enjoyment to it.

I like the idea of running with an Ele\Resto dual spec, simply as it means I have to carry much less gear.  That said I could always just stick the resto\ele gear in the bank and HS to Dalaran whenever I have to heal.

Ding 74 – off to Dalaran

Well after a couple of hours in Boring Tundra I hit 74 last night.  Time to head on off to Dalaran (once I work out what Q I need to do to get ported there).

While in Dalaran, I’ll set my HS, then portal over to Azeroth to train my spells (I haven’t been back since level) as I’ll have new levels of Frost\Earth Shock, Chain Heal\Lightning, and Lightning Bolt.  I’ll also grab some Elemental Glyphs and sort out my Dual Spec.  I’ll have a bash at Elemental for a level or so, and if I like it enough (or get asked to heal some stuff) I may even ditch the Enhancement Spec I’ve been levelling with and go Ele\Resto.

Plan is to have the following spec (@74) and fill up Lava Flows, Elemental Weapons & Elemental Precision as I level up to 80.

Ele-build-74

While I know Imp Ghost Wolf isn’t really a needed talent, it’s saved my arse enough times to make me want to keep hold of it.  It’ll also hopefully be of ‘some’ use if I head into BG’s at all.

No idea on what Resto spec I’d take, but I’ll have a level or two to think about it

So much to catch up on

Well with the return to WoW comes the fun of catching up on what I’ve been missing for the last 9 months.  Many classes have changed quite a bit, and with talents and spells etc being tweaked it’s great to feel like a proper n00b again .

I’m playing the Shaman almost exclusively, apart from when I log onto a new Belf Paladin (which my 3 year old created to run around with him), but that’s only for 20 mins every few days.  My plan is to leave the alts on Shattered Hand alone until Chunder hits 80 (or at least gets his Cold Weather Flying), but to start up an Alliance Alt on a random server to start making some money in preparation for Cataclysm.  I want a Worgen, and some pocket change would be nice (who knows, if I get the DK up to 80 I could even get some Heirlooms for the XP bonus).  I’ll probably make two DK’s who I’ll get through the starting area, and then use one to farm some herbs\ore and the other to level up Inscription so that I can get into the glyph market.   This way I can hopefully have a full set of low level (at least) gear enchanted up for the Worgen Druid when the expac rolls around.

As for Chunder, I’ve no real set goals for him at the moment, other than getting him up to 80 as soon as possible.  I’d like to run a few instances along the way, and even try out dual spec Ele\Resto builds for a couple of days.  I’ve never tried Elemental (other than when we had a free respec a while back to try out Thunderstorm in BG’s when it was introduced) so I like the idea of trying it out to see if I like it as a levelling build.  I do really like Enhancement, but have been collecting a set of Ele\Resto quest reward gear where there are no Enhancement upgrades available in the off chance that I do switch specs (and get asked to heal an instance).

I’ve paid for the Dual Spec, but as yet I’ve not bothered to spend any talent points.  That’ll probably change this evening, as there was a lot of  LFM’s for Nexus last night (not just Healer either which was odd) and I’d like to be able to step in if needs be.  I need to get my arse to Dalaran asap so that I can get easy access to bank\portals etc.  I hit 73 last night, and got about 20% to 74 in a couple of hours with a massive Quest hand in session just before I logged.  Hopefully if I can get on for a while tonight I can get at least over half way to 74.

Looks like I’m not the only one returning to WoW

Well having caught up with some of the old WoW blogs I had in my feedreader it seems like a lot of the bloggers who also quit WoW are gettig back into it.

I’ve hit 72, and have had an offer to join a casual raiding guild with a few old friends if I want to. Not sure if thats what I want out of WoW, but it’s nice to know there’s a spot for me if I want it. Hopefully knowing the guild will mean I can at least get a few instance runs with no pressure to be an uber healer while I get back into the groove!
