Shoulders dropped in ToC last night after getting in as a healer.

MantleofGnarledOvergrowth

So glad I didn’t equip the others now!

Still having trouble with the damn BlackKnight fight unless the dps is all above 2k and\or everyone’s around the 17500 HP mark and stands close so I can Chain Heal spam my way through.

Lost a couple of Mages who were one shot from the 2nd Boss Dude, but hey, if they’ve only got 12k health there’s not a great deal I can do really.

All that’s left to upgrade now is Totem\Shield and Trinket.  Going to buy one of the darkmoon cards trinket this evening, as they’re going for 175Gold which I can get from a nights questing with no problems, which will leave just the Totem and Shield left.

Next post will explore the options for these two slots  . . .  (probably)

Nor trouble exactly but I managed to win these on a late night bid on the AH

ManteloftheEternalSentinel

Thing is I’m not sure that they’re worth equipping, as I could just run Normal ToC for another couple of days or so and get hold of either of these two

MantleofGnarledOvergrowth

MantlofInconsolableFear

The goblin in me says relist the Eternal Sentinel Shoulders for a 48 hr auction for a few hundred gold more that what I paid for them, and if at the end of the 48hrs they’ve not sold and\or I’ve had the others drop in ToC re-evaluate the situation.

The Sentinel ones look more badass, and have Haste rather than Hit, which in my current state isn’t as attractive (as I’m still a fair way off the hit cap).  They also have more SP and Crit but certainly not 1K gold worth.  The Cloth ones are comparable to the Gnarled Growth Leather ones, but I’d have more competition from Priests\Mages\Warlocks as opposed to Balance\Resto Droods.  I’d sooner not have Cloth but an upgrade is an upgrade, and in theory I’ll not be getting hit !!

I’ll be hoping to grab an upgrade of some description from either Uld10 or ToC10 (normal)

Hallows End Loot\Title Update – and done with ToC Normal

Filed under: achievement, instance, toon update

Managed to get all three rings last night in my first round of Headless Horseman kills.  5 People, 5 Summons.  3 Rings for me, 2 lost rolls on the Pumpkin Head and the Magic Broom.

All in all I’m pretty happy, I also got the following Achievements done

Hallows-Cheev19-10-09

This now leaves me with the following Achievements left to do for ‘the Hallowed’ title.

remaining-Hallows-Cheev19-10-09

I’m going to do Rotten Hallow this evening, and with the Pumpkin Heads from the HH farm (to try to get the Squashling\Mount(s)) I’ll hopefully have the Check Your Head cheev done as well by tomorrow.  I’m probably going to end up buying the Masquerade wands, as so far after a night of trick or treating I’ve only managed to get 1 Ninja Wand.

I also cleared up Regular ToC, as I grabbed the Abyssal Rune on about my 2nd run.

AbyssalRune

I was actually top DPS in the 3 runs after getting this, as I’d already upgraded both my Rings.  I was pulling around 2.5k DPS average throguhout the run, which isn’t bad as there’s some movement in some of the fights, and I had to spot heal a couple of times when the Druid Healer we had (fresh 80, only 12K HP) got one shot.  I think it was the first time I could actually complain about the DPS that the others were putting out (one under 1k and one around 1.5k DPS).

This could mean I’m ready to step up to Heroics . . . . . . .

Still got a Trinket and Shoulders to upgrade, but I can’t see anyway of ‘easily’ doing this without going into Heroic’s or a Raid environment.  Most 10 man PuG’s are asking for the ‘epic’ achievement, and the Raid achievement before they will accept you, which is something that I’m going to struggle with.  Hopefully my guild can help me out with this.

Going for ‘The Hallowed’

HeadlessHorseman

Well I’ve decided that I’m going to actually put some effort into getting the title from the Hallows End event.

Up til now I’ve really not bothered about the whole seasonal events thing (apart from the fire festival when using the RAF Bonus – that was OP and couldn’t be missed).  I didn’t bother with Brewfest at all (as I was trying to trace the last couple of levels to 80) so this is the first one that I’ve been 80 for.

Plus Mr Headless Horseman also drops two, YES TWO caster epic rings which means i can get rid of two my remaining non epic slots.  The criteria for getting this aren’t too tricky, although I dare say there will be a reliance on the RNG being kind as usual.  The Sinister Squashling could be the tricky one, but hopefully I should be able to get a lot of

From the Headless Horseman loot table, I’m determined to get the following  . . .

HorsemansSeal

WickedWitchBand

These two items are the only real upgrades.  The Pet is a necessity for ‘the Hallowed’ Title

SinisterSquashling

I will grab this if no one else needs it in case I feel the need to go back to Enhancement at some stage.

RingofGhoulishGlee

The other items are just things I’d like to have but I’m not going to worry if I don’t get the drop

MagicBroom

HorseMansReins

With the summon being once a day, a full group can do it 5 times in a row.  I’ll also have the added bonus of being able to (probably) heal it as well, which will make getting into groups that much easier.  I’m looking to do at least 5 a day until I’ve got the two rings and then if I can get more runs to get the Broom\Reins that would be great.  Hopefully while this is all going on, the damn pet will drop (and I’ll win the roll) !

Back to Healing !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1

IT TRUE !

Last night I healed ToC (Normal) about 5 times.  First time back healing in a group since MC waaaaaaaaay back in the day.

Didn’t manage a clean run, but the last one the only death was a stupid mage who decided to aggro the 2nd boss and get 2 shotted.  Not my fault, not my problem.

I was in a group when the healer had to log, and when we still hadn’t found a healer after 5 mins I admitted that I had a resto dual spec . . . . .   I did warn the group that I was a n00b when it came to heals, but they were cool (the Hunter wanted his trinket bad, and the Warrior was also after a particular piece of loot) and happy to take a few dirt naps while I got in the groove.

After the first run I played with my bars a bit, moved some spells about.  Changed some low rank heals which were on my bars for max rank (I wondered why RipTide was so lacklustre, then realised it was Rank 1   )

After the first couple of runs I was really enjoying it.  It was nice that I had already seen the various fights in ToC before hand so I knew what to expect, I’m not sure how I would get on in a ‘new instance’ I hadn’t run a bunch of times.

I didn’t get either drop I was after, and although a major upgrade dropped in the form of some cloth shoulders I passed for the nub level 78 Mage who couldn’t dish 1k DPS.

Still, it was good experience if nothing else

Helped a group of 77 – 78’s through HoL last night.  They didn’t really need my help, but I thought it would be fun and an instance to cross off on Chunder’s list.

HoL-Cheev

Started the run @ 00:05 and were done by 00:45 so not too bad.  I didn’t bother rolling on any of the loot, nor did I watch my threat etc.  I just stood casting as many spells as I could :-)

There was a few hairy moments when we pulled 2 groups and I had to sling a few Chain Heals out but nothing that was too much of a test (which was good as I was almost asleep by this time!).  The group I was with were very friendly and all knew their roles well.  Hopefully they’ll hit 80 in the next couple of weeks and we can join up again on some lvl 80 instances.

Going to try to get a run into Ony 10 tonight\tomorrow with the guild if peeps aren’t locked out.  I need to grab some better rings\trinkets and shoulders as these are my only non epic bits at the moment.  I could do with getting in a couple of Heroics as well, but I’d sooner do that with guildmates to start with before PuG’ing them.

No more updates on the ALTs – possibly going to start the DK’s JC\Inscription Prof’s this weekend depending on how work goes  . . . . .

Weekend Update
October 13, 2009, 1:05 pm

I had a blast on Chunder this weekend, having a trip into 10 man Ulduar with my guild which saw me pick up a bunch of achievements and also a lot of gear (gogo undergeared new level 80!!).

As a result of this, and a couple of ToC 5 man runs as Enhance Spec I’ve settled on ditching the spec for an Ele\Resto dual spec.  Ele is a lot less hassle and as I don’t know the fights that well yet being away from the carnage is not a bad thing.

The loot I grabbed from Ulduar was (thankfully) mostly Ele\Resto

BeltoftheIronServantIronscaleLeggings plasmafoilshawloftheCaretakerGlovesofTautGrip Plus this from 5 man ToC

HailstoneAmulet Plus these from the AH (for a bargain of 60G!!)

RevenantsTreads

I’m now working on getting my +hit up through gems and quest rewards.  Looks like the plan of having 1 set of gear for Ele\Resto wont workout as I’d like, owing to the +hit requirements.  There’s a pretty easy quest in DragonBlight which will get me +55 hit rating (at the expense of the same + SP, while giving me the +50 SP I’m losing back when using the trinket as the ones I have at the moment are much lower for the on use function).

RuneofInfinitePower

Here are the Achievements that the Ulduar run got me.

uld-cheev

My Resto Plan is to try to get in some Normal instance runs for the lower level dungeons as healer to learn the layout\fights.  Hopefully the fact that I outgear the instances will make up for my healing n00bishness

Ele\Resto Gearing Upgrade Wishlist to follow . . .

Oh and I spent about 1k gold getting Boog’s tailoring up to 400 and spec’d her up so that I can run Vanilla instances for cheevs\cloth (as it’s a good seller) and also so that I can put the FellGuard on Defensive and let my 3.5 year old son run her around Azeroth and know that the BodyGuard will protect her!.

I hadn’t realised how much cloth is needed for tailoring, and I may even have Boog do a few Q’s in Northrend to see if the Cloth Scavenging talent helps me get a lot of cloth.  Chunder is averaging about 4 or 5 stacks a night at the moment from normal questing etc, and I’m picking up any stacks that are under 5G on the AH to get to FrostWeave Bag level as soon as poss as I’m hoping these will be a big money maker.

Gold status dropped to about 1.5 K after a splurge on stuff from the AH (gemming\enchanting and sorting out Chunders glyphs and a couple of upgrades, and buying cloth etc for Boog) but ended the night back up to about 2.5k after a nights of questing on Chunder (15G ish a quest means the cash reserves soon fill up), dropping a load of old crap on the AH and selling a load of old stuff from various alts.

We have Epix

Had a quick look at Trial of the Champion last night, and got the cheev and also a lot of epics.  I hadn’t realised just how easy it is to get epix these days !!!

ToC-cheev

I was lucky in the the Resto Shaman with us was a) bloody good and b) geared up the wazoo .  All the other DPS were Plate Melee as well which was nice in that I got a couple of other Resto\Ele bits which no one else needed.  While they’re only cloth\leather they are a whole heap better than what I had before last night.

BeltofMercilessCrueltyCarapaceofGrimVisionsLeggingsofthebloodkinghtUrukasBandofZealbindingsofthewickedGazeoftheSomberKeeper

I never thought I’d get anywhere near this amount of upgrades in one night (and only an hour or so of actual instancing), so I’m over the moon.

I did notice that while I love Enhancement while out on my own, I didn’t really like being in the middle of the action.  Having played a Priest and Warlock as my two other mains in the past, I think Ele\Resto is going to be the way forward.  It’s a shame as I love to smack stuff and have my Spirit Wolves out but perhaps Melee in a group\raid situation just aint my thang.    I might have a quick respec this evening and try an instance or two as Elemental to see if I like it more than my current Enh spec.  I may just stick it out as Enh for a couple more days as there’s a quest chain or two I want to sort out for a couple of bits of nice gear that’s not too tricky to solo (well solo in that it’s just me, my wolves and fire\earth elementals).

DING DONG

Filed under: Levelling, WoW, toon update

Well last night I made it to 80, in WSG of all places.

I was pretty tired and decided that I’d have 20 mins in BG’s before logging off as I had 200K xp left to go.  I had a blast in AV once I decided to go Resto, and then I had a couple of 3-0 WSG’s where I teamed up with the highest level Warrior and we just capped flag after flag.

ilove80s

I’ll post up the 80 Dingshot tonight, but it’s a bit hectic as we were fighting up a tunnel .

I’ve now got to try to get some guild groups to a few dungeons in the next few evenings to try to gear up a bit before I go into the realm of the PuG !

I’m also now pretty short on money as I had to spend about 500G on skills, and I probably spent another 500G on a few bits of gear.  Not to mention th e100G for the Tome of Cold Weather Flying.  I’ve not yet decided who to give that to yet, but there’s no real rush to make any decisions on this as the Hunter is quite a way from being able to get to fly (let alone in Northrend) and App (the rogue) hasn’t got his flying mount yet.  I’ll get Chompi, Cinki and Bandaid their Flying Mounts so that they can get around Outland with ease if needs be, should I decide to level them up a bit.

Now to start getting some Emblems etc to twink out the ALTs

60% Done with level 79

Made some good headway towards level 80 last night.  Got run through the Arena of Anguish quest chain by a friendly 80 Druid who was boosting their Paladin friend so I’m now sporting the ridiculously sized

CCC

It has certainly improved my damage, but man is it fugly to look at !!

I’m now over half way through level 79, which means that I may ding 80 tonight depending on what time I get home and online.

IN OTHER NEWS – I LOGGED ON TO AN ALT!!!

Admittedly it was only to HS her to Shat, so she can get the zepp over to Northrend to commence skilling up her Tailoring but it’s a start.  Plan is to have her level up Tailoring a bit, then Enchanting (DE’ihg the Cloth Stuff to go towards the Enchanting Mats I’ll need.  Once I hit 80 on Chunder I’m going to start getting the Hunter up a few levels.  Main plan is to get him to Outland and to skill up Engineering on him but that’s a long way off at the moment as Tailoring (Bags) and Enchanting (DE’ing) will be the first of my mo money schemes to get put into operation.
