Alteriffic – Back to Healing

Weekend Update

I had a blast on Chunder this weekend, having a trip into 10 man Ulduar with my guild which saw me pick up a bunch of achievements and also a lot of gear (gogo undergeared new level 80!!).

As a result of this, and a couple of ToC 5 man runs as Enhance Spec I’ve settled on ditching the spec for an Ele\Resto dual spec.  Ele is a lot less hassle and as I don’t know the fights that well yet being away from the carnage is not a bad thing.

The loot I grabbed from Ulduar was (thankfully) mostly Ele\Resto

HailstoneAmulet Plus these from the AH (for a bargain of 60G!!)

I’m now working on getting my +hit up through gems and quest rewards.  Looks like the plan of having 1 set of gear for Ele\Resto wont workout as I’d like, owing to the +hit requirements.  There’s a pretty easy quest in DragonBlight which will get me +55 hit rating (at the expense of the same + SP, while giving me the +50 SP I’m losing back when using the trinket as the ones I have at the moment are much lower for the on use function).

Here are the Achievements that the Ulduar run got me.

My Resto Plan is to try to get in some Normal instance runs for the lower level dungeons as healer to learn the layout\fights.  Hopefully the fact that I outgear the instances will make up for my healing n00bishness

Ele\Resto Gearing Upgrade Wishlist to follow . . .

Oh and I spent about 1k gold getting Boog’s tailoring up to 400 and spec’d her up so that I can run Vanilla instances for cheevs\cloth (as it’s a good seller) and also so that I can put the FellGuard on Defensive and let my 3.5 year old son run her around Azeroth and know that the BodyGuard will protect her!.

I hadn’t realised how much cloth is needed for tailoring, and I may even have Boog do a few Q’s in Northrend to see if the Cloth Scavenging talent helps me get a lot of cloth.  Chunder is averaging about 4 or 5 stacks a night at the moment from normal questing etc, and I’m picking up any stacks that are under 5G on the AH to get to FrostWeave Bag level as soon as poss as I’m hoping these will be a big money maker.

Gold status dropped to about 1.5 K after a splurge on stuff from the AH (gemming\enchanting and sorting out Chunders glyphs and a couple of upgrades, and buying cloth etc for Boog) but ended the night back up to about 2.5k after a nights of questing on Chunder (15G ish a quest means the cash reserves soon fill up), dropping a load of old crap on the AH and selling a load of old stuff from various alts.

We have Epix

Had a quick look at Trial of the Champion last night, and got the cheev and also a lot of epics.  I hadn’t realised just how easy it is to get epix these days !!!

ToC-cheev

I was lucky in the the Resto Shaman with us was a) bloody good and b) geared up the wazoo .  All the other DPS were Plate Melee as well which was nice in that I got a couple of other Resto\Ele bits which no one else needed.  While they’re only cloth\leather they are a whole heap better than what I had before last night.

BeltofMercilessCrueltyCarapaceofGrimVisionsLeggingsofthebloodkinghtUrukasBandofZealbindingsofthewickedGazeoftheSomberKeeper

I never thought I’d get anywhere near this amount of upgrades in one night (and only an hour or so of actual instancing), so I’m over the moon.

I did notice that while I love Enhancement while out on my own, I didn’t really like being in the middle of the action.  Having played a Priest and Warlock as my two other mains in the past, I think Ele\Resto is going to be the way forward.  It’s a shame as I love to smack stuff and have my Spirit Wolves out but perhaps Melee in a group\raid situation just aint my thang.    I might have a quick respec this evening and try an instance or two as Elemental to see if I like it more than my current Enh spec.  I may just stick it out as Enh for a couple more days as there’s a quest chain or two I want to sort out for a couple of bits of nice gear that’s not too tricky to solo (well solo in that it’s just me, my wolves and fire\earth elementals).

DING DONG

Well last night I made it to 80, in WSG of all places.

I was pretty tired and decided that I’d have 20 mins in BG’s before logging off as I had 200K xp left to go.  I had a blast in AV once I decided to go Resto, and then I had a couple of 3-0 WSG’s where I teamed up with the highest level Warrior and we just capped flag after flag.

ilove80s

I’ll post up the 80 Dingshot tonight, but it’s a bit hectic as we were fighting up a tunnel .

I’ve now got to try to get some guild groups to a few dungeons in the next few evenings to try to gear up a bit before I go into the realm of the PuG !

I’m also now pretty short on money as I had to spend about 500G on skills, and I probably spent another 500G on a few bits of gear.  Not to mention th e100G for the Tome of Cold Weather Flying.  I’ve not yet decided who to give that to yet, but there’s no real rush to make any decisions on this as the Hunter is quite a way from being able to get to fly (let alone in Northrend) and App (the rogue) hasn’t got his flying mount yet.  I’ll get Chompi, Cinki and Bandaid their Flying Mounts so that they can get around Outland with ease if needs be, should I decide to level them up a bit.

Now to start getting some Emblems etc to twink out the ALTs

60% Done with level 79

Made some good headway towards level 80 last night.  Got run through the Arena of Anguish quest chain by a friendly 80 Druid who was boosting their Paladin friend so I’m now sporting the ridiculously sized

CCC

It has certainly improved my damage, but man is it fugly to look at !!

I’m now over half way through level 79, which means that I may ding 80 tonight depending on what time I get home and online.

IN OTHER NEWS – I LOGGED ON TO AN ALT!!!

Admittedly it was only to HS her to Shat, so she can get the zepp over to Northrend to commence skilling up her Tailoring but it’s a start.  Plan is to have her level up Tailoring a bit, then Enchanting (DE’ihg the Cloth Stuff to go towards the Enchanting Mats I’ll need.  Once I hit 80 on Chunder I’m going to start getting the Hunter up a few levels.  Main plan is to get him to Outland and to skill up Engineering on him but that’s a long way off at the moment as Tailoring (Bags) and Enchanting (DE’ing) will be the first of my mo money schemes to get put into operation.

Almost there . . . .

Well, by almost I mean 1.3 Million XP to go til level 80 !

I reckon that means about 50 or 60 more quests (which average about 20k each) when you add in the xp from mobs etc.  Looks like I’ll be 80 by the time I leave ZD at this rate, possibly sooner if I can sneak an instance run in or two.

I managed to snag a couple of upgrades from the walrus folk in Dragonblight.

TotemicPurificationRod

CuttlefishScaleBreatplate

Like a tool I’d forgot to check for any decent faction rewards that were available, which means that I’m now having to factor in Faction Quests while I sort out my gear plans for 80 and beyond.  I really like smacking stuff with big axes etc, so I probably going to keep Enhancement as my main spec outside of dungeons.  With this in mind, any PuGs I do will be on the basis that I will be rolling on ENH loot as well as Resto Mail gear.  I’ll only take caster drops if no one else wants them, as I’m hoping that Guild Heroic runs etc will get me geared up nicely for my Resto\Ele set(s).

Still nothing doing with the ALTs – although I have transferred my 70 Lock back across to my ‘live’ account which means I can use her to DE crap and make some bags.  Just need to get her the Flying Book so that she can fly over to Dalaran for ease of bank\mailbox etc and she’ll be all set to skill up enchanting (to DE all the crap I’ve collected between 70 – 79) and tailoring.  Once these are sorted (I’ll hopefully get round to doing this over lunch in the next day or so) I can get her decked out in cheap ass 70 WotLK greens  and up her + DMG which will make farming the likes of Strat a bunch easier.  I’m not sure if I’ll bother levelling her in Northrend or not, as I like the idea of just having her farm Netherweave\Runecloth etc for gold.

I’m currently about 100k xp from 79.

I switched from Ele to Resto as my 2nd spec but haven’t yet got the chanbe to use it. Sitting at another 1200 + healing which isn’t too bad considering I’ve not put any real effort into getting the gear (see previos post).

I should hit 79 tonight, and then hopefully 80 on Tuesday or Wednesday.

Last nights Grizzly mission a complete success

I managed between 2 and 3 hours in Grizzly Hills last night, and completed the Pit Fighter chain, picked up the new gloves and a nice big chunk of XP.  I also got the required number of coins to buy the Totem of the Bay however the Vendor wasn’t up as those pesky Alliance scum were in control of the Venture Co Island.  I got a few more quests done before it was time to log off and made some headway into the Fo’Grizzle My Shizzle cheev.

Fo-Grizzle-2oct

I had the pleasure of being ganked by (you’d never guess) a Paladin while turning in a quest.  I hate fucking Pallies with a passion, I’m going to make it my mission to engage everyone I see now in combat, even if I’m already almost dead to get some practice as I seem to have no defence.  I also got killed by a mage, who I was nice enough to wave to while flying above them to try to show them I wasn’t a ganker.  They then hopped on their bird, flew up above me and then dismounted and started slinging some frosty stuff at me!!  What a cock!!  They then kited me through a camp of mobs and I couldn’t handle the adds so died.  Pesky alliance fuckers, I’m on the offensive now so watch the fuck out!!

I finished the night a bar and a half away from 78, so Resto spec is almost here.  I had a few invites to Drak Thron Keep (or what ever it’s called) but as it was getting late, and they wanted a healer I had to decline.

Maybe tonight is the night to break my BC\WotLK Healing Cherry

In other news, I’ve done fuck all with any of my Alts

Starting Grizzly Hills tonight

grizzly-hills(2)

Hopefully I can get some time on WoW tonight.  The wife was doing some work on the Mac last night so I had to console myself with Trials HD (console myself, geddit).  I fucking love that game, It reminds me of a trials game my friends and I used to play while at work a few years ago (MONDAY, MONDAY, MONDAY!!!).

So with luck I’ll make a proper start on Grizzly Hills.  I’ve done a handful of Quests here, and helped a couple of groups do the Pit Fighter series of Quests (I didn’t have the pre-quests done so it was a bit of a waste for me).  First plan is to knock out the Pre-Quests for the Pit Fighter chain so that if another group comes along doing it I can tag along.  End result of the quest chain will be these gloves, which are quite a bit better than the ones I currently have.

Handguards-of-deluded-might

Once those pre-quests are sorted (or while I’m doing them, depending on where those quests take me), I’ll do a couple of the Grizzly Hills dailies so that I can get the Totem of the Bay.  It shouldn’t take long to get this, and will be useful when I go back to train my next level of Abilities and respec from Enh\Ele to Enh\Resto (so I will finally be going ‘Back to Healing’).  This totem is supposedly still useful at 80 (and means I

totem-of-the-bay

Once these two are done, I’ll start on the chain which will lead me to the Hour of the Worg group quest, which I’ll hopefully be able to solo (well, solo plus my Spirit Wolves and maybe Mr Fire Elemental Totem )

Hour-of-the-worgThis Quest has a few nice Blue Shoulder rewards, but as my Enhancement Shoulder slot is sorted from a sneaky Nexxus Quest, I’ll probably grab these cloth healing shoulders for my Resto set (which is going to be made up of any decent resto gear, I’m not limiting myself to Mail).

Furred-Worgslayer-Spaulders

There aren’t any other quest rewards that I really have my eyes on, although I’m toying with popping into LFG once I get my Resto Off-Spec sorted out to try to get into the healing groove.

I’m flying :-)

Managed to crack through to 77 over the weekend, and grab Cold Weather Flying, this makes questing almost too easy tbh.  Having flown over a few zones, I’m also a bit worried what I’ll miss out on now I’ll be in the air and not on foot\hoof.  Zul Drak looks very interesting, but being able to simply fly to the quest location and back again means I’ll probably not see everything it has to offer, same goes for all the other zones I’ve left to experience.

I have now seen what all the fuss is over the Wrathgate quests, the Battle for Undercity is very epic, and I’m looking forward to going through that again on my alts.  I’m also just about ready to hit Grizzly Hills, where hopefully I can squeeze out 2.5 levels which will see me to 80 on Chunder.  I can then worry about which Alt will get levelled next .  Still leaning towards the Hunter for that one to be honest, although I reckon the DK will get rushed to 65 first so that he can be a Profession Mule for me (and I’ll probably then leave him in Shat near the Bank\Mailbox).  He’s gonna be my Inscription & JC dude who will hopefully make me lots of money (after I spent probably all my current cash powerlevelling him )

Anyway – I’m still enjoying my time back in WoW – not sure if that’ll change once the quest to 80 has been reached, time will tell I guess . . . .
